An Exciting new Judge has joined the Book of Kells Creative Competition
RTE News Anchor and Presenter, Sharon Ní Bheoláin, has joined the judging panel for The Book of Kells Creative Competition 2018. A Trinity graduate of Irish studies, Sharon speaking at the launch of the 2018 competition said:
“During my college years I studied the beautiful texts and manuscripts of our early monks and scribes and so I’m delighted to revisit the Book of Kells as part of this wonderfully creative competition. This time I won’t be studying it’s language or grammar but rather it’s beautiful art work, particularly the illustrations of the various animals. The Book of Kells is the jewel in our cultural crown and I’m so excited to see it interpreted through the eyes of all the children and adults who take part in this competition.”
Now in its second year, the Book of Kells Creative Competition is open to all ages from Primary and Secondary school students to adults. Last year’s youngest competition entrant was 3 and the oldest was 83.
