About this event:
When this film was proposed in 1984, the Carthusians wanted time to think. Sixteen years later Philip Gröning was permitted to document the life of the Grande Chartreuse monastery. The result is a work of contemplation, a promise of transcendence, a journey into a world of ritualistic repetition. The event will begin with a brief introduction to the Carthusian order. Many will choose to exit this film in silence; for those who wish there will be opportunity for exchange of views
