Symposium. The War of Independence: Other Voices
Tuesday, 21 January 2020, 6:30 – 8:30pm
A symposium organised by Trinity's School of Histories & Humanities.
The War of Independence was a time of deep uncertainty, hope and fear for many who lived through it.
A century on from the events of 1919-1921 how is that conflict being understood? Aside from commitment, courage and resilience on all sides what other aspirations, rivalries and ambitions motivated individuals and groups? What can other voices tell us about the period? This symposium will discuss some less prominent aspects of this complex struggle. Following three short presentations the discussion will be open to the audience.
