Up and Down: Czech Film Screening
Friday, 1 November 2019, 6:30 – 8:30pm
A film screening organised by the Department of Russian and Slavonic Studies in association with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Dublin.
Up and Down (Horem pádem, 2004) is an award-winning Czech film written by Petr Jarchovský and directed by Jan Hřebejk. The film is a comedy-drama in which a number of personal and family stories intersect with one another, colliding also with the fears and ambitions manifest in fast-changing, post-Cold War Czech society. The discovery by two smugglers of an abandoned baby kicks off a series of tragic-comic events.
Up and Down is one of the key movies penned by Petr Jarchovský, the award-winning Czech screenwriter who will appear in an "in conversation" event at Trinity Long Room Hub on 11th of November 2019.
