Tour of the Beckett Country
Wednesday, 31 July 2019, 1:30 – 6pm
Follow in the footsteps of the young Samuel Beckett around Dublin's south and east, including inland to Foxrock and the Dublin mountains and along the stunning coastline to Dun Laoghaire. The tour will be guided by Dr Feargal Whelan, a Dublin native and Beckett scholar, who will discuss the history of the area as well as the creative role of the landscape in Beckett's literature.
The tour includes a stop for a soup-and-sandwich lunch at The Gables in Foxrock.
Meet the organizers to pick up your ticket next to the Pavilion Bar between 1:00 and 1:15 PM.
The bus will depart from inside the Lincoln Place Gate at Trinity College Dublin at 1:30 PM and will make several stops during the tour. The bus will return to Trinity College Dublin by 6:00 PM.
See the full program of the Samuel Beckett Summer School here.
The public programme is a core activity of the Trinity Centre for Beckett Studies, based within the Trinity Long Room Hub at Trinity College Dublin. It is generously supported by Dublin UNESCO/City of Literature, Larry and Mary Lund, and many of our partners at this year's venues and institutions.
