Reading and Discussion by and with Kathrin Röggla
Tuesday, 23 January 2018, 7 – 9pm
This reading with Kathrin Röggla takes place one month before the theater group of the Dept. of Germanic Studies is going to perform one of Rögglas plays in "The LIR Academy": JUNK SPACE. William T. Martin describes her work as followed: "Continuing in the "traditions" of the post-war Austrian avant-garde, mid-century German theorists of modernity (and postmodernity), and techno music, Röggla´s work unsettles generic and poetic conventions and subjects language and experiences from contemporary German (and especially Berlin) society to an often bitingly parodic and playful critique." Kathrin Röggla was born 1971 in Salzburg. She studied German literature and journalism in Salzburg and Berlin before turning her focus to writing. She has been writing radio plays, plays for the theater, experimental short prose, two novels, besides short stories and essays. She has received many awards for her literary work and since 2015 Röggla is not only a member of the Adademie der Künste in Berlin but also its Vice President.
The reading will be followed by a Q&A time and a reception (place for the reception will be announced after the reading). Please send an e-mail for registration to Katja Riegler: rieglerk@tcd.ie
