'The Irish in Argentina: Linguistic Diasporas, Narrative and Performance'
Wednesday, 27 September 2017, 6:30 – 7:30pm
Book launch of Sarah O' Brien
Based on conversations recorded by Sarah O'Brien (School of Linguistics, Speech and Communications Sciences) with Irish descendants in Argentina, this book explores a linguistically unique community that has to date received little attention by scholars of the Irish Diaspora . Introduced by Professor Kerby Miller, the book launch on Wednesday 27th September at 6.30 p.m. offers a point of entry into the cultural context of contemporary Irish-Argentina and provokes discussion on the role of oral narrative in illuminating our understanding of the recent past.
