Oestrogen Rising 2016 - The Stained and Bloodied Cloths of Ireland

A public lecture by Catherine Harper organised by the Trinity Centre for Gender and Women's Studies, TCD.
Catherine Harper is about to become Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Chichester, having been Dean of the Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries and Professor of Textiles at the University of Portsmouth.
She is also a weaver, seamstress, laundress and artist. Her work focuses on textiles to explore issues around female identity in Ireland, past and present.
A century after the Easter Rising, this lecture will examine questions around material culture, gender and national identities.
