Relationships, Other Beings, and Morals in Asia
Wednesday, 15 February 2017, 6 – 7pm
A public lecture by Columban missionary Fr Hugh MacMahon organised by the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies.
This talk will reflect on intercultural communication and illustrate some aspects of interaction, and the legacy brought back from the Korean and Chinese societies by a Western expert on the East.
Most people who spend an extended period in the East come back feeling enriched. But exactly what is they learnt and what might they have that is worth sharing back home? This is the question Hugh MacMahon set for himself when he wrote the book Guest from the West, a reflection on his fifty years in Korea and China.
