Conor Brennan

Conor is a PhD candidate in the Department of Germanic Studies. His project compares aesthetic responses to the Anthropocene across a range of contemporary fiction, most prominently in texts by Christoph Ransmayr, Olga Tokarczuk and Richard Flanagan. As reference points in 20th-century modernity, the project also draws on the works of Franz Kafka and Ingeborg Bachmann.

Conor holds a BA in German & English Literature from TCD and an MSt in German from the University of Oxford, where he was an Ertegun Scholar. He was a co-producer for Season 2 of the Hublic Sphere podcast, run by early-career researchers in the Hub, and was the host for Episode 7: ‘Looking East, Looking West’. Sections of his doctoral research are forthcoming in Austrian Studies and Oxford German Studies (2022).
