Dr S. Karly Kehoe

Karly Kehoe is the Canada Research Chair in Atlantic Canada Communities at Saint Mary’s University in Nova Scotia, Canada. She researches religious minority migration (focusing on Irish and Scottish Catholics) and settler colonialism in the north Atlantic world.

She is the convenor of the Scottish Historical Review Trust, a fellow of the Royal Historical Society and is the chairperson and academic lead of the Gorsebrook Research Institute for Atlantic Canada Studies. She co-edits the Histories of the Scottish North Atlantic book series with Edinburgh University Press and her second monograph, Empire and Emancipation: Scottish and Irish Catholics at the Atlantic Fringe, 1780-1850, was published in February 2022 by Toronto University Press. While at Trinity, she will be working on the A Catholic Atlantic? project which explores the links between Scotland and Ireland, the Caribbean, and northeastern British North America.
