Peter West

Peter is a PhD student in the School of Social Sciences and Philosophy whose research focuses on the philosophy of George Berkeley; immaterialist and alumni of Trinity. Focusing on his early works An Essay Concerning the Principles of Human Knowledge and Three Dialogues Between Hylas and Philonous, Peter hopes to provide an accurate reading of Berkeley's arguments surrounding representation and resemblance with a particular focus on the historical context in which it was written.

He hopes to give a holistic interpretation of Berkeley's works, drawing on contemporary movements in science as well as more straightforward philosophy. Peter holds degrees from the University of Leeds (BA) and the University of Edinburgh (MSc).
