Children's Health Ireland at Tallaght Research Collaboration with TCPHI

History of collaboration

In 2014, a research capacity-building programme partnership was established between TCPHI and Children's Health Ireland at Tallaght (previously known as National Children's Hospital, Tallaght). A steering committee meets regularly to oversee the collaboration. Members include, the Director of Nursing, representative from Nursing Practice Development, along with the TCPHI Researcher (Dr Karin O'Sullivan) and TCD Academics (Dr Catherine McCabe), (Dr Catherine Comiskey) & (Dr Maria Brenner).

Funder

Currently, the National Children’s Hospital Foundation, Tallaght as well as the Adelaide Health Foundation and Meath Foundation are funding this partnership.

Healthcare researcher

The primary aim of the role of the researcher, Dr Karin O'Sullivan, is to support and advance the TCPHI-CHI at Tallaght collaborations with the purpose of developing high-quality nurse-led research that improves practice and patient care.

CHI at Tallaght

Title: The patient's experience of nitrous oxide for sedation and relief of pain during botulinum toxin injection treatment for muscle spasticity in children.

Description:  Examining Nitrous oxide as an alternative to general anaesthetic during the administration of botulinum treatment in children with cerebral palsy who experience muscle pain.

Title: Medication management in children’s nursing: a review of audit scores over a five year period in one children’s services centre
