On Thursday 28th and Friday 29th April, Tangent was honoured to host the League of European Research Universities (LERU) "Careers of Researchers & HR Policy Group (CARE)" for a two day conference led by Trinity College Dublin’s Director of HR Antoinette Quinn.

The Group provides a forum for European HR directors responsible for research careers at third level to discuss trends and developments in research careers at LERU universities and associated EU policy, exploring topics such as career structure, recruitment, and progression, as well as professional development and employability beyond academia.

Provost Linda Doyle and HR Director Antoinette Quinn welcomed attendees from a range of universities and gave an overview of Trinity. Guest speaker Jim Miley, Director General at Irish Universities Association (IUA) and Wolfgang Schmitt, Trinity Dean of Research, discussed the national landscape for research and the university's research excellence strategy. Michele Ryan, Head of Learning & Organisation Development led a session on the impact of COVID-19 on researchers’ wellbeing and career paths.

The League of European Research Universities (LERU) is a network of 23 leading research universities that are located in 12 European countries.
