Each undergraduate student at Trinity is assigned a personal tutor on entry to College. Tutors are members of the academic staff who are specifically appointed and trained to provide personal and academic support, in addition to their normal academic duties. It is a confidential service supported and co-ordinated by the Senior Tutor's Office which is located on the ground floor in House 27. Your tutor details will be available on the My TCD Portal within a week of you accepting your place. Further information on the tutorial service is available on our website www.tcd.ie/Senior_Tutor/
How can a tutor help? Your tutor is your first port of call for guidance, help and advice.
- Difficulties settling into College life?
- Not convinced you're in the right course?
- Finding it hard to write that first essay?
- Too many things to do at any one time?
- Too ill to attend College?
- Not feeling ready for that test next week?
- Things not going well at home?
- Struggling with money?
These - and many others - are issues that many new students are facing. Your tutor can help. Your tutor will listen to you, explain what the regulations say, how College works and suggest sources of help, outline what solutions are available and in most cases, there are solutions. It's easier to speak to somebody you already know when the going gets rough, so it makes sense to meet your tutor as soon as possible. Your tutor is expecting a visit from you during Freshers' Week, so please keep your appointment.
Erasmus students are assigned an Academic Erasmus Coordinatorwho is a member of the academic staff and who may provide advice on such matters as choosing modules, assessments and exams. She/he will be a source of guidance throughout your time as an Erasmus Student.
