BESS Regulations

Details regarding important BESS regulations are outlined below and in the BESS Handbook. For details regarding general College Regulations please see the College Calendar.

Degree Pathway/Module Choices

BESS is a programme which offers students ten different degree programme pathways. It is very important that students are aware of the regulations in relation to module choices and degree pathways. The definitive choice will most likely be made in the Senior Fresh year, though it is possible to hold open, through specific module selection, the opportunity to leave open definitive exit route selection until the Junior Sophister year.

Within these degree pathways, the BESS programme offers a range of module choices for students to choose from in order for them to attain their 60 ECTS.

Once the pathway decision has been finalised in the Senior Fresh, or Junior Sophister year, there is no further ability to change. The reason for this is that each degree pathway requires the student to take required modules to fulfil the requirements of that degree pathway. Whilst BESS does offer a lot of module choices each year, unfortunately it is not possible to gain a degree without having taken the required modules noted for that year and pathway. In some cases student can opt to repeat the year (remember the fee issue though) if they really wish to change their degree path.

Transfers into BESS

Due to the popularity of the BESS programme it is very hard to transfer into BESS. The programme is normally oversubscribed so that space is not available for transfer students. Information regulations governing transfers are available on the following links:
