LoGaCulture Concert: “Music from the Boyne Valley” and DreaMR
Presented by LoGaCulture, Trinity College Dublin and Haunted Planet Studios.
In this fusion of innovative computer science technology, storytelling and music, the history comes alive, and the heroes from the past engage through the Augmented Reality (AR) time travel to tell their stories. The Oak is still there as a silent witness of 1690 and the High Kings of Tara are in full glory. Cultural games become educational platforms. The concert features music from the AR app “Voices of the Boyne”: music of the 17th century by H. Purcell & J. Playford, original music on nature characters by Svetlana Rudenko (Piano), contemporary and Irish trad music by LoGaTéada ensemble with Tim Doyle (Violin, Pipes, Concertina), Éamonn Cagney (Bodhrán, Drums), Aongus Mac Amhlaigh (Cello) and David Barnette (French Horn). Voice Actors: Daniel Costello (Oak & W. B. Yeats Poem) & Cate Russell (The River Boyne and Sheela-na-Gig). Dialogues by Charlene Putney.
Scientific talk and narration of the concert by Prof. Mads Haahr, Trinity College Dublin, School of Computer Science and Statistics, leading TCD investigator of the LoGaCulture project. Cultural heritage talk by Mary Heffernan, Head of Collections and Sites, OPW.
