Green Challenges round 2 - call for project proposals

Got a great idea for climate action / biodiversity action / sustainability?  Want to see it happen in real time?

The UNI-ECO project team are delighted to announce the second call for UNI-ECO “Green Challenges” 2021/22 and invite you to propose small projects to address these challenges. The call, in collaboration with our UNI-ECO European partners, goes out to all students and staff to submit mini-project proposals. The deadline has been extended to January 2nd 2022.

The broad themes for this year are listed below and further described here, once again informed by the UNI-ECO survey of campus users across all 5 Universities:

  1. Raising awareness about SDGs and sustainability in general
  2. Actions to conserve and increase biodiversity on campus
  3. Moving towards a circular economy at university
  4. Finding ways to enhance efficiency (resource use - water, energy, alternatives to plastic, transport/mobility)

Applications will be welcome from teams of two to five people (staff and/or students). Funding of up to €600 will be available for each project.

Your project should address one of the four themes above

Five teams will be selected from the applications to implement their projects.

You will find more information and the link to the on-line application form here.

The UNI-ECO project and Green Challenges are briefly summarised here.

Green Challenges campaign 2020/21
The 25 UNI-ECO Green Challenges projects conducted across the five partner Universities last year were showcased in the UNI-ECO summer school hosted in Trinity in July. The creative and innovative projects provided real initiatives to improve sustainability on campus: from more sustainable food choices to raising awareness of the impact of financial decisions to enhancing biodiversity and reducing waste. A Trinity project was selected as the winning project: Congratulations to Emma Bowie and Georgia Dillon!

Uni-Eco Online Modules

Staff and students across the five partner Universities of the UNI-ECO project can now learn more about sustainability through two new free e-learning modules titled Consumption and Waste and Carbon Footprint, launched on 18 October, 2021. This is the first two of five modules to be developed by the UNI-ECO Erasmus+ project team, to share across the partner communities of University of Montpellier, Utrecht University, Trinity College Dublin, University of Barcelona and Eötvös Loránd Tudományegyetem [Budapest]).

These modules form part of the UNI-ECO project mission to create practical and collaborative tools for sustainability innovation in our Universities. The modules focus on practical case studies, tips, and ways to change behaviour, and are open to any student or staff member interested in living more sustainably and increasing their knowledge and awareness about sustainability.

Each online module contains videos, links, quizzes and interactive presentations created by UNI-ECO sustainability experts and takes 1.5 hours to complete. Learners receive an electronic certificate once the module is completed!

The two online modules can be freely accessed through the UNI-ECO website and no previous knowledge about sustainability is needed to take part.

Uni-Eco Summer School
