Trinity performs strongly in QS World University Subject Rankings 2021

Trinity College Dublin has reinforced its reputation as Ireland’s leading university with a strong performance in the QS World University Subject Rankings 2021. 

Trinity has been named as one of the world’s leading universities in 34 subject areas. 

Trinity is ranked in the top 50 globally in four subject areas: 

  • 25th in the world for English Language & Literature (up from 28th in 2020) 
  • 29th in the world for Classics & Ancient History (up from 30th in 2020) 
  • 37th in the world for Pharmacy & Pharmacology (up from 45th in 2020) 
  • 46th in the world for Nursing (up from 48th in 2020).

 

Additionally, Trinity is ranked in the QS top 100 in the world in each of the following subjects: History, Modern Languages, Performing Arts, Theology, Divinity Religious Studies, Computer Science & Information Systems, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Materials Science, Education, Law, Politics & International Studies, Social Policy & Administration, Philosophy.

The QS 2021 Subject Rankings are compiled by QS Quacquarelli Symonds based on a review of 1,452 universities from 86 locations and across 51 academic disciplines.  

Universities are scored according to academic reputation, employer reputation and research impact (citations). They are also ranked by the h-index, an index that attempts to measure both the productivity and impact of the published work of a scientist or scholar.  

Trinity College Dublin is Ireland’s leading university and is ranked 101st in the world in the 2020 QS World University Ranking across all indicators.
