The renowned award-winning actor Al Pacino, who was invited by the TCD Philosophical Society, to accept honorary patronage of the society, paid a visit to Trinity College this week in advance to the Phil debate. The actor has a particular interest in the TCD graduate, Oscar Wilde, and is currently producing a film on Salome. He was shown around campus by the Philosophical Society’s President, Daire Hickey, along with the School of English’s Professor Nicholas Grene, who is an authority on Wilde. The actor visited the Book of Kells, the Old Library and the Long Room where Wilde would have studied as an undergraduate.
