Dr. Mark Ward
Medical Scientist, Histopathology

I graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2012 with a BA (Mod.) in Biochemistry. Following this, I completed a PhD in 2016 in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics in Trinity College Dublin investigating the role of protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) and its endogenous inhibitors in matrix metalloproteinase regulation in liver cancer.

My current research focuses on the area of "Liquid Biopsy" and the isolation and molecular characterisation of rare circulating tumour cells (CTCs) from blood. I am also interested in the role of platelets and immune cells have in cancer metastasis as well as thrombosis in gynaecological cancers.
