Dr. Adam Dyer
Clinical Lecturer, Medical Gerontology

Biography

Dr Adam Dyer is an ICAT fellow and SpR in Geriatric Medicine/GIM (2021-present). Adam graduated from Medicine (Trinity College Dublin) in 2017 and subsequently completed the Basic Specialist Training Scheme in Medicine (RCPI). Adam additionally holds Masters degrees in Neuroscience (Intercalated MSc) and Medical Gerontology (MSc by Research), a Postgraduate Certificate in Statistics (PgCert) and Membership of the RCPI (MRCPI). Adam has published widely, with over 40 journal papers, many in leading gerontology journals. He is investigator on numerous grants investigating the impact of age and frailty states on innate immune responses, and how these responses influence the pathogenesis and clinical progression of age-related disease. Adam's current research focuses on understanding inter-individual immune variability with age and frailty and how this variability contributes to the pathophysiology and expression of age-related conditions and diseases

  • Summary
    • Examines anti-viral immune responses in older nursing home residents including in vitro (PBMC stimulations in lab) and in vivo (SARS-CoV2 vaccine) responses. In addition to advancing understanding of the pathogenesis of viral infection in severely frail older adults, these insights offer to inform vaccine development/deployment strategies; biological sampling completed at baseline, 5 weeks & 6 months post-vaccine
