Biography
Yvonne is a Research Fellow in the Discipline of Occupational Therapy.
She holds a PhD., MSc. and BSc Cur Occ (Hons) awarded by Trinity College Dublin. Yvonne is interested in the impact of lifelong conditions on occupational identity and occupational adaptation. She is particularly interested in understanding and supporting participation and engagement in life roles such as employment and parenting across a range of chronic conditions through occupation-focused interventions. Yvonne has extensive experience in clinical rheumatology, vocational rehabilitation interventions to support return to work after an illness or injury, service design (from development through to refinement and improvement), and clinical research. Yvonne represents Occupational Therapy on the National Clinical Programme for Rheumatology and on the HSE Scheduled Care & Transformation rheumatology workstream. Yvonne is Project Lead on 'Work-Able Solutions' which is an integrated care occupational therapy vocational rehabilitation service project. 'Work-Able Solutions' secured funding in the HSE 2022 Waiting List Action for an initial 18-month pilot.
Yvonne is currently employed on the REfLECTS Study, which is a CHITIN funded randomized control trial of mirror box therapy in upper limb rehabilitation with sub-acute stroke patients (Principal Investigator: Dr Tadhg Stapleton).

Occupational Therapy representative on the HSE Scheduled Care and Transformation rheumatology workstream tasked with reviewing current rheumatology pathways and designing and scoping revised pathways in a 'what good looks like' approach including appropriate workforce planning.
Workwell Trial Steering Committee Member: Independent occupational therapy member providing oversight to the Workwell Trial on behalf of the funder (Versus Arthritis). This RCT is testing an occupational therapy-led work programme for people with inflammatory arthritis who are experiencing difficulties at work.
