Cognitive Systems Group

Arun Bokde

The Cognitive Systems Group is led by Prof Arun Bokde – we are based in the Discipline of Psychiatry and the Trinity College Institute of Neuroscience. The group is a multidisciplinary team of post-doctoral research fellows, and post graduate students and we have strong collaborations with clinician groups across various hospitals. The work we do is focused on using neuroimaging (both structural and functional) to further our understanding of typical neurodevelopment and in addition we are interested in changes in neurodevelopment due to brain lesions in newborns. In addition, we are focused on adolescence to understand the developmental changes that take place leading to development of depression and anxiety disorders. The group also has a focus on study of complex emotions – in particular to understand the neural substrates of complex emotions such as disgust,  hate, and other negative emotions.
