The Trinity PULSE is now well established as the voice of Trinity’s School of Medicine, so it is fitting that the focus of our Winter issue is on our outgoing and incoming Heads of School (HoS). With world’s focus on the war in Ukraine, it was appropriate for our Summer edition of Trinity Pulse to lead with a short interview with medical student, Anastasia Skrypnykova. Now a refugee in Dublin, she recounts her experience of fleeing her home and family and trying to complete her final year exams remotely. Welcome to our Spring edition of The Pulse. Our theme, as we emerge from the latest wave of the pandemic, is ‘health equity and inclusion’. Our top news story celebrates the Trinity students’ campaign for vaccine equity, featured on the front page of the Irish Times and tweeted out by Bono as well as the Director general of the World Health Organization, Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus.

Professor Michael Gill is excited to introduce this special publication of some of the education and research work that is ongoing at the School of Medicine. We are very proud of our students and the professionalism that they have demonstrated throughout the pandemic. We are similarly proud of our researchers from senior investigators through young academic faculty, post doctoral researchers and postgraduate students, who have reacted quickly and intelligently to the pandemic and the research and clinical care questions that the virus has posed to us.
