Dr Laura Gleeson and Dr Michelle Coleman highlighted as young researchers of the future.

Papers by two TB Laboratory researchers, Dr Laura Gleeson and Dr Michelle Coleman, are listed in the November Highlights of The American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology Vol 59, No. 5 | Nov 1, 2018.

Dr Gleeson a HRB funded Research Fellow is listed for her work on 'Bioenergetic exhaustion' why immune cells in smokers don't work as they should. The work is published in the American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology Cigarette smoking impairs the Bioenergetic Immune Response to Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Infection.

Dr Coleman for her work on primary human alveolar macrophages, the mechanism by which all-trans retinoic acid exerts its protective antibacterial effects. The work is published in the American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology All-trans Retonic Acid Augments Autopaghy during Intracellular Bacterial Infection.
