Dr Ross Murphy receives Dean of Health Sciences Award for Outstanding Teaching in Professional Practice 2018
Dr Ross Murphy was nominated by colleagues who praised him for his enthusiasm in both didactic and clinical teaching, particularly improving students' clinical examination and diagnostic skills in cardiology. He is totally passionate about his teaching and instils this passion for learning in his students.
Dr Murphy has undertaken additional clinical sessions in clinical cardiology and murmur identification for the students. He conducts this in his own time, often at weekends, and it is a session which is highly valued by the students in their final year of the Medicine programme. This multi-factorial approach is characterised by inspiring, supporting, actively involving and communicating with his students.
Dr Murphy is considered an exemplary communicator and teacher by the students. His teaching sessions are popular and well attended and he is recognised as going the extra yard in his teaching activities
