A Warm Welcome to All New Students

A very warm ‘Céad Míle Fáilte’ (welcome!) to all our new undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The Library is looking forward to welcoming you to Trinity, not just in the coming weeks but over the course of your programme. In this COVID-19 “online” world, we will transport you from your kitchen tables and bedrooms across the threshold of the Library.

We appreciate it takes time to get your bearings and we are available to help with any questions you have about the Library service, whenever you are ready to begin.

To help get you started, we have worked alongside our academic and support colleagues to develop a university orientation programme that should ease you in gently. The first time you will see us is at the main university orientation online session where our team of Teaching & Research Support Librarians will give you a brief introduction to Library services and supports.

Over the coming weeks, you will meet your Subject Librarian at the library classes your lecturers will organise for you. In these sessions we will show you how to begin finding information for your assignments and projects.

Watch out also for our Library HITS classes – these interdisciplinary taster sessions which we co deliver with Student Learning & Development, cover everything from getting started with the Library, academic integrity and critical thinking. No need to book, these classes are open to everyone in the university.

Our Library buildings are open for you to study and borrow books. To reserve your study space, plan your visit and find out how we have made our libraries safe for all, please consult our main website.

For now, everything you need to get you started is available in our New Student page. We look forward to helping you achieve and succeed and wish you all the very best during your time at Trinity.
