With true military intelligence we were made to move camp today

15 November 1915

With true military intelligence we were made to move camp today 100 yards up the hill, though the ordnance have not yet given us the necessary tents to supply the whole battalion, and so the men’s little rush huts which they had just succeeded in making watertight had to be pulled down and put up afresh. A fine day, cloudy, rather like England in the atmosphere which is usually of remarkable clarity. There has been a good deal of odd firing going on, some shots discharged by accident on parade, some the result of ammunition getting into the incinerator. Today there was a little more than usual and tonight we hear that Hilditch who had the Regtl scouts across the River in the villages opposite on training was turned back by Maxwell-Scott D.S.O Divisional Staff Colonel. Now we hear that the Staff and the C.O.s while over there were challenged by a Greek guard and not satisfying that person were fired on! To prevent future troubles we are all given C.B. even during parade time. Gun firing heard somewhere up country.
