[1918] valley which is the most luscious land I have yet seen corn vines and deep meadows all shooting up after the rain and all along the ditches and the river hazels willows and poplars in full leaf.
We left the Rhone passed through hills covered with pines and all sorts of country all looking at its very best close to Versailles where we saw the palace in the distance through the woods which were full of bluebells in blossom.
The palace looked to me like an exaggerated Port Ran but of course I couldn’t see it properly.
Eventually we arrived here after a long walk and would like to stay here for the rest of the war if it were possible as we cant even here or see any sign of the war.
Best love to all Henry
