Dear Mother

still here and not doing very much work which is becoming rather tiresome. We have a football cup now for the best team in the division and there is great competition to get it. We have got through our first round safely but next round we are in against an infantry battalion and can hardly expect to do much good though we have quite a good team.
We have been shooting crows every evening and have now got nearly fifty. The inhabitants are very keen to get them to hang over their potatoes to scare the others off.
I got a letter from Uncle Henry from Trouville he wants me to go sometime on short leave down there to catch trout and play tennis.
I expect I’ll go sooner or later as there is often a chance of a weeks leave in France without spoiling your
