Dear Mother

we are all enjoying France immensely so far as we have had nothing to do except to wander round the local forest which is a fine place full of boar foxes and rabbits. I am going to go tomorrow to La chasse if I can this takes place every Sunday and Thursday according to the men who work in the forest and they generally get a couple of boars.
I expect I’ll have a different tale to tell when I have gone to the chasse.
We had a most successful trip from Egypt and never saw a sign of a submarine as far as I know though we had the usual rumours that we were chased all the way that our escort had sunk two that morning and so forth not a word of truth in any of them.
Eventually we got to a big bay full of islands with old forts in them and surrounded on the east side by great rocky hills
