Very fair concert indeed given by outsiders

23rd September [1916] Saturday

Very ordinary day. Did not go out in the afternoon as a concert was to be held in the hospital. Very fair concert indeed given by outsiders – evidently trained public singers as their voices were of extraordinary purity and strength, nearly deafening us in the small hall. Excellent ventriloquist. Sort of hospital ‘at home’ held immediately after. We are indeed getting in the swim of social life again!
Wrote several letters – Betty, George Clancy, Wilfrid.
Got a pair of breeches from the town – very well made apparently except that they are somewhat too long in the leg.
Weather beautifully fine. Two lucky devils went to Blighty this morning.
