Very cold weather – quite a shock after Malta

18th October 1916 Wednesday

Crossed the Boom about 7.30 am. Moored at the Quay where we first landed in November last, and disembarked noon. Detailed to remain and look after kits and rations. Finally went up to Camp – Summer Hill Rest Camp – with the kits on Motor Transport.
Reached camp 5.30, got a tent , had dinner, and turned in. Very cold weather – quite a shock after Malta – and most of us had shorts on. Nothing much doing apparently at the moment up the Vardar side, but casualties coming down from Seres.
Hear that many awards were made following the show on 13 and 14 Sept. Cross DSO, Sykes Mil Cross, Csm Cornell, Sgt Holden and several others D.C.M ., and a lot of military medals.
