Hot day with strong wind in the evening. Trench work much as usual. Most of my men out on patrol with Rutherford near Vladajr.
Patrol out with Day from No 13 Trench 9 pm.
Turned in 9pm. Awakened 11.30 by chit to say great bombardment commenced tomorrow 4.45 am by which time I am to have all men under cover. Breakfasts 3 am. A vigorous reply is expected. Kings Own and East Lancs to attack and occupy hills in front tonight.
