[14th September [?1917]] The quail come too I hear and there must be snipe though as yet there are very few.
Things are going on slowly here & I hope our job won’t last much longer I don’t think there will be much fighting if any but you never can tell. The niggers are a little bit full of themselves as they are accustomed to wipe up Italians once a week & twice on Sundays still they never had any success against us & as they are all believed to be a bit hungry they may now not be so full of themselves.
