[2nd November [1917]] They had crowds of sheep and goats a few camels horses & cows and were all collected round the well fishing water up in buckets then spilling it about all over the ground above making a bog of liquid filth about a foot deep all round the well how they dont get the plague and all die I dont know.
When we left the boss Bedouin asked for cigarettes and a horse like ours. We gave him a packet of ration cigarettes at which he was frightfully pleased.
I am now living with the C.R.E. of the division not with the company which is very nice but I dont know how long it will last.
(There are the most gigantic vultures here I mistook one for an aeroplane coming down yesterday they are quite as big as Turkeys with huge skinny necks some with a kind of ruff of white fluff half way up I expect the male birds).
I will write again soon
Best love
