My dearest, I got your letter this evening very late after Id given up hope. By the parcel you returned I wonder did you mean the little one dressed in white if so I’ve had it as I told you and purloined the contents. If there is a big parcel I think better hold it off for a bit otherwise the lovely things will be becoming too ‘cheap’. I had another bicycle ride this morning back to the Canteen as I discovered that I had left 57 frs worth of condensed milk behind me yesterday I got it back all right. The roads are breaking up badly & the lazy Germans threw big lumps of stones about them. Once I was precipitated to Earth going very slowly. There has been not a thing happening all day. Very dark and moist and quiet except for occasional bursts. That was an awful letter to write you last night dearie all about Mittel Europa. But I would really
