[March 2nd 1916] so there was plenty of time for us to have a leisurely breakfast and for the men to cook their food in comfort. The next day we were in the Sind desert; a monotonous expanse of barren plains, scrub jungle and rolling sand dunes. This must be a vision of Mesopotamia. Our progress was very slow and we were growing tired of the train. 5p.m. on the 2nd March found us in Karachi. We recieved orders to proceed to the rest camp for the night and to be prepared at 9.30 tomorrow morning to embark on two ships; half the battalion on one and half on the other. After finding our places in the camp, I went for a stroll in the town. Later, dinner at the Bristol hotel; cinema after. After finding our places in the camp, I went for a stroll in the town.
