The men very cheery singing Christmas Carols!

Dandli 19 December [1915] (Sunday)

Battalion has orders to move up the hills today. Knight and I had by especial Brigade orders to bring the same men to continue yesterday’s work on the cliff. Widened the path nearly enough to take a limber – Eased a lot of gradients. The staff again praised the work.
Got back to the new camp up the hills by dark when we are told by the Brigade to make ourselves comfortable as they are our winter quarters and will occupy it for 3 months.
Have a good idea that we will be elsewhere by the New Year!
The men very cheery – singing Christmas Carols! How they can do it I do not know. It makes me pretty homesick to hear them.
Turn in early and write Wilfie, Walter Prentice and Aunt Lucy.
Just a cablegram to Father with greetings.
