Morning of July 9th, and to move slowly down the river until we come abreast of the village of Abdul Hussain. If our movements are accurately timed we ought to reach this point about ½ hour before daylight.
The main object is to hastily surround the village so as to prevent the escape of the occupants. Thus the village must be rushed instantly we arrive and com-munication cut off from the neigh-bouring country and other villages with the utmost rapidity. Col Johnson disposes his men in accordance with the following plan in the hope of ef-fecting this (See Sketch Map)
The force was divided into fire parties which I number and name as fol-lows; the numbers corresponding to those on the map which indicate the position occupied by the respective party;
