The enemy has a new stock of aeroplanes here

23 August [1916] Wednesday

Turned in: for the first time in three weeks was able to undress. Good night’s sleep. Very quiet. Practically no artillery. Rainy morning followed by rain on and off all day. Quiet forenoon. No artillery fire on either side.
The enemy has a new stock of aeroplanes here and visits us with them very frequently.
Heavy rain in the afternoon with thunder and lightning. Pretty cold.
Post in. Bank of Athens with receipt for tunic and Ancient Law, and one from Walter Prentice in France [?]. 1st Iniskilling Fusiliers. Unfortunately he seems a long way from both Wilfrid and Herbert who are close together.
Draft for the regiment from 15 and 22 Reserve Batt. taken on the strength but lent to 9 Kings Own.
Nice restful time in support.
