[7th September [?1917]] islands in the flood so I don’t know what they are.
The flood is fine now on either side of the causeway water as far as you can see about 3 miles wide & along the edges villages & palms wherever the ground is a little high.
This is not the best part of the country which starts the other side of the canal & is never allowed to flood but always has unlimited water from irrigation canals & ditches above the ground level.
The canal is very ancient & is supposed to have been made by Joseph but I don’t know if there is any truth in
