[14th September 1916] By 3 p.m. bullets ceased to follow us, an occasional stray one might sing overhead but the general fire had ceased. The heavy old Howitzer in Nasiriyah belched forth a few of her heavy shells on the enemy some four miles distance.
As they shrieked overhead, they were as alarming as the fire of the Arabs.
