Spent some time in the front trench

10th November 1916 Friday

Quiet sunny day – thank goodness. Men got their clothes dry. Spent some time in the front trench taking bearings of enemy battery I spotted last night by its flashes. Reported its position to the Artillery. Saw the Colonel and discussed yesterday’s performance. Seemed satisfied and said we were extraordinarily lucky to get away.
