Some absurd rumour that we have sent ultimatum to Greece

3rd December 1915 Friday

Slight frost during the night. Was cold and shivering all night with some stomach trouble. Touch of ?di[?] during the day. ?D Coy for duty. Bloore away at 8.30 with 75 men roadmaking. 16 [?]inlying Picquet of which for appearance sake, since Cross has gone as second machine gun officer temporary pending Hirst’s recovery, I took command and stayed in camp. Whole Coy stayed in. Battalion has a long Brigade day rearguard action. Divisional General’s inspection ordered for tomorrow luckily off. No post, but found a note of Tom’s by chance in one of books he sent me.
Moffat circulates some absurd rumour that we have sent ultimatum to Greece and threatened to occupy Salonika. Indented while in France for size 9 gumboots. The Ordnance delivered them today size 6. Sent back. It has taken them 5 weeks to fulfil the order and that is how they do it.
Quiet night. Turned in early.
