[5 March 1917] That is a very rough sketch – if it would interest you I could of course say more later – or else work down through the rankes [sic]. Rowsell is the cheerful bird – always singing & shouting – always ready for a joke or a bit of fun – he is engaged to be married. I suggested Glendalough for honeymoon which he seemed quite keen on! Hanhart – a married man with family – a good deal more staid very careful accurate & precise, but still quite ready for a bit of fun.
Well now Mother dear, I don’t think I’ve much more to say. It seems disgusting to think that for this rest time we might all just as well be home on leave however there it is.
