Out with Miller again in the evening, and rowed about

10 October 1916

Went up before the DSO for Classification and by a little wangling got myself marked Active Service – so thank goodness the end of this useless though pleasant life is in sight.
Out with Miller alone during the morning. Got back with difficulty. Tacked about for a long time in a narrow bay against the wind dead down the bay and finally rowed in. Very ordinary day. Feel bucked at being marked ‘A’. Out with Miller again in the evening, and rowed about as there was practically no wind.
