Order for a move first thing this morning.

20th November 1915

Late last night Smith brought in an order for a move first thing this morning. No reason given, no destination mentioned. Kings Own had a whole company out last night picketing the hills. Move came off this morning to a place three miles nearer Salonika just on the main road – a great flat plain with very good grass nearer the sea. The move carried (it) out well with very little transport. The first of the Division moved at 11.30 and the whole show was cleared and stores gone and camp clear at 5pm, and everything settled in new camp by 7.
‘A’ Company on outpost tonight. Scare as to Greeks who are supposed to have had their guns trained on our old camp – hence the move, to a place under cover of the guns on our warships. We are ordered to sleep in our clothes tonight.
Rumour that the Greeks have been given an ultimatum by us.
In spite of the possibility of disturbance glad to get down after a long day for being Battalion cleaning party I had to stay to the last at the old camp, and the second platoon of the division to arrive there was the last to leave.
Still no mail.
