Men too badly scattered along with other divisions

14th October1916 Saturday

In town yesterday with Miller. Paraded this morning 7.30 22 Div Details under Capt Jackson KSLI and marched for Valetta Custom House. Halfway was sent on in a gharry in a hurry to see if I could arrange a ferry service for our 200 men. Arranged to charter the Steam Ferry. We therefore crossed the Harbour, saving some 3 miles march. Embarked safely on the Tunisian. – rather a poor tub though big enough. Embarkation by tender from the landing stage. Men badly scattered along with other divisions, making it very difficult to fix responsibility for dirty troop decks.
